Warner Bros. has officially launched their awards season campaign for ‘Wonder Woman’

The studio is campaigning for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress, among several other categories.

Following the record-breaking success of Patty Jenkins’ beloved Wonder Woman this past summer, becoming the sixth-best June opening of all-time and the best domestic opening ever for a female director, Warner Bros. has officially launched their For Your Consideration campaign for the DC superhero origin story.

According to the studio’s For Your Consideration page, Wonder Woman will be submitted to the 90th Academy Awards alongside Blade Runner 2049, Dunkirk, and The LEGO Batman Movie in 15 different categories including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Score.

While Wonder Woman‘s chances of winning in the aforementioned main categories don’t seem all that likely, it’s best chances of winning are in the six technical categories, which include Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

Wonder Woman has grossed more than $402 million at the domestic box office and $813 million worldwide since it debuted in June. The film, which marked a turning point for the DC Extended Universe, stars Gal Gadot as the titular superhero, as well as Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Houston, and Connie Nielsen. A sequel has been dated for a December 2019 release.
